The last four days have been very rewarding and fulfilling for both Liberia and the US. I was invited to come and hang out with amazing old and new partners of CAN in Jeffersonville, Handover and Madison Indiana. I spent two days with my friend and brother Todd Cannon and his beautiful family at their home in Jeffersonville Indiana. He is a teacher at Southwestern School in Handover Indiana. I really enjoyed the sightseeing of the city of Louisville, Kentucky. Todd visited Liberia with me back in October of 2015 for a week. Our school Heart of Grace in Lower Johnsonville Liberia has become a sister-school to Southwestern School.
During my visit to Southwestern School in Handover Indiana on Thursday May 12th 2016 , I had the honor and opportunity to meet another dynamic young talented and passionate leader of the Rotary Interact Club of the school. Her name is Hannah Shaffer a high school student at Southwestern School. Hannah got involved with CAN and Liberia after just listening and reading the stories and updates of Mr. Todd’s visit to the country and the educational needs of the children of Liberia. She and her Interact Club of the Rotary raised $2.239.93 to support education in Liberia. Our partnership with the Rotary Interact Club in this area will continue in 2016. Hannah is an amazing young lady with a promising future, she is one of the young good disrupters we need in our world today.
Through Hannah’s leadership, I had the honor and privilege to speak at the Rotary Club of Madison, Indiana. My friend and brother Todd Cannon and Mr. Trevor Jones School District Superintendent for this area both came with me to this meeting. God willing, we are planning a trip for Mr. Trevor Jones to visit Liberia next year 2017 to help provide professional training to our local administrators, teachers and staff in the Changers School System of CAN. Please stay tuned for more exciting updates of my trip to Indiana. You don’t want to miss the next one because it will blow your mind away!
Thanks guys for everything, take care and God bless!
